Description
A heartfelt family recipe for creamy and buttery mashed potatoes, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 pounds Russet or Yukon Gold potatoes
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup heavy cream (or whole milk)
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt, to taste
- Freshly cracked black pepper, to taste
- Fresh herbs (chives, parsley, or rosemary), for garnish
Instructions
- Peel and chop the potatoes into uniform chunks.
- Place the potatoes in a large pot, cover with cold water, and sprinkle with salt. Bring to a boil and cook for 15-20 minutes until fork-tender.
- In a separate pan, melt butter and sauté minced garlic until fragrant and lightly golden.
- Drain the potatoes and return them to the pot. Mash using a potato masher or ricer for a smooth texture.
- Incorporate sautéed garlic, butter, and heavy cream into the potatoes, seasoning with salt and pepper to taste.
- Spoon into a serving bowl and garnish with fresh herbs. Serve immediately.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute heavy cream with whole milk or Greek yogurt. Avoid over-mixing to keep the potatoes fluffy.
