Ingredients

  • 12 Hawaiian rolls
  • 6 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
  • 6 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced
  • 4 tbsp butter
  • Optional add-ins: sautéed mushrooms, fresh herbs, crispy bacon

Instructions

  1. Gather your ingredients: Hawaiian rolls, cheese, and butter. Prepare any add-ins like sautéed mushrooms or herbs.
  2. Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half to create a sandwich.
  3. Generously spread butter on the outer side of each roll.
  4. Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
  5. Place the bottom half of the roll on the skillet, followed by a layer of cheese and any additional fillings. Top off with the other half of the roll.
  6. Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, pressing down gently with a spatula.
  7. Carefully flip the sandwich and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese is thoroughly melted.
  8. Cut in half and serve immediately, ideally with a bowl of tomato soup.

Notes

For perfectly melted cheese without burning the rolls, keep heat low and cover the skillet for a minute if needed.
