- 12 Hawaiian rolls
- 6 oz sharp cheddar cheese, sliced
- 6 oz mozzarella cheese, sliced
- 4 tbsp butter
- Optional add-ins: sautéed mushrooms, fresh herbs, crispy bacon
Instructions
- Gather your ingredients: Hawaiian rolls, cheese, and butter. Prepare any add-ins like sautéed mushrooms or herbs.
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half to create a sandwich.
- Generously spread butter on the outer side of each roll.
- Preheat a non-stick skillet over medium heat.
- Place the bottom half of the roll on the skillet, followed by a layer of cheese and any additional fillings. Top off with the other half of the roll.
- Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes on one side until golden brown, pressing down gently with a spatula.
- Carefully flip the sandwich and cook until the other side is golden and the cheese is thoroughly melted.
- Cut in half and serve immediately, ideally with a bowl of tomato soup.
Notes
For perfectly melted cheese without burning the rolls, keep heat low and cover the skillet for a minute if needed.
