Description

A comforting dish of pork chops slow-cooked with apples and spices, perfect for chilly evenings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 Bone-in Pork Chops
  • 2 Honeycrisp or Granny Smith Apples, sliced
  • 1 large Sweet Onion, sliced
  • 2 cloves Fresh Garlic, minced
  • 1 cup Chicken Broth (or Apple Cider)
  • 1 tsp Ground Cinnamon
  • 1/2 tsp Nutmeg
  • Salt and Pepper to taste
  • Fresh Rosemary or Thyme, for garnish

Instructions

  1. Season the pork chops generously with salt, pepper, and cinnamon.
  2. In a skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat and sear the pork chops until golden brown, about 3-4 minutes per side.
  3. In the crock pot, layer the sliced onions at the bottom, followed by the seared pork chops. Scatter sliced apples over top, followed by minced garlic and herbs.
  4. Pour chicken broth or apple cider until it covers the bottom of the pot.
  5. Cover and cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 4 hours.
  6. Once done, remove pork chops and garnish with apple mixture and fresh herbs before serving.

Notes

Browning the meat enhances flavor. Be cautious not to overcook the pork.
