Description

A heartwarming and rich potato gratin made with creamy Gruyère cheese, perfect for holiday gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 3 lbs Yukon Gold potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups Gruyère cheese, grated
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon fresh thyme or rosemary
  • 2 tablespoons butter (for greasing)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Wash and peel the potatoes, then slice them thinly.
  3. In a skillet, melt butter over medium heat and sauté garlic until fragrant.
  4. In a bowl, mix heavy cream, sautéed garlic, salt, and pepper. Add fresh herbs.
  5. In a greased baking dish, layer potato slices, Gruyère cheese, and cream mixture. Repeat until all ingredients are used, finishing with Gruyère on top.
  6. Cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes, then uncover and bake for an additional 20 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  7. Let the gratin rest for a few minutes before slicing, then serve.
  8. Garnish with fresh herbs if desired.

Notes

For easier serving, allow the gratin to rest after baking. You can prep a day in advance and refrigerate before baking.
