Ingredients
Scale
- 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
- 2 tablespoons Active Dry Yeast
- 1/2 cup Butter, melted
- 1 cup Milk, warm
- 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
- 1 Egg, beaten
- 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
- 1 teaspoon Salt
- 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (for topping)
- Additional Cinnamon and Sugar (for tossing)
Instructions
- Warm 1 cup of milk until lukewarm; combine it with 2 tablespoons of sugar and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it bubbles.
- In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and melted butter together. Add in the yeast mixture and 1 beaten egg. Stir until a dough forms and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
- Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Brush it with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
- Cut the dough into strips and twist each strip several times before placing on a lined baking sheet.
- Let the twisted pieces rise for another 20-30 minutes until puffy.
- Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
- Toss warm twists in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.
Notes
For a dairy-free option, replace milk with almond milk. Applesauce can substitute for eggs. Keep the butter generous for richer flavor.
