Description

Deliciously buttery twists coated in cinnamon and sugar, reminiscent of cherished family moments in the kitchen.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 3 cups All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 tablespoons Active Dry Yeast
  • 1/2 cup Butter, melted
  • 1 cup Milk, warm
  • 1/4 cup Granulated Sugar
  • 1 Egg, beaten
  • 1 tablespoon Cinnamon
  • 1 teaspoon Salt
  • 2 tablespoons Brown Sugar (for topping)
  • Additional Cinnamon and Sugar (for tossing)

Instructions

  1. Warm 1 cup of milk until lukewarm; combine it with 2 tablespoons of sugar and sprinkle the yeast on top. Let it sit for 5 minutes until it bubbles.
  2. In a large bowl, mix flour, salt, and melted butter together. Add in the yeast mixture and 1 beaten egg. Stir until a dough forms and knead for 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
  3. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for about 1 hour until doubled in size.
  4. Punch down the dough and roll it out into a rectangle. Brush it with melted butter, then sprinkle with sugar and cinnamon.
  5. Cut the dough into strips and twist each strip several times before placing on a lined baking sheet.
  6. Let the twisted pieces rise for another 20-30 minutes until puffy.
  7. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 12-15 minutes until golden brown.
  8. Toss warm twists in a mixture of cinnamon and sugar.

Notes

For a dairy-free option, replace milk with almond milk. Applesauce can substitute for eggs. Keep the butter generous for richer flavor.
