Description
A dreamy dessert that combines rich chocolate and smooth caramel, perfect for gatherings and family traditions.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 pre-made pie crust (graham cracker or Oreo)
- 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped
- 1 cup heavy cream, divided
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 6 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1/2 cup caramel sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 1 tablespoon vanilla extract (optional)
Instructions
- Prepare the Crust: If using a pre-made crust, set it aside. For a homemade crust, crush graham crackers or Oreo cookies, mix with melted butter, press into a pie pan, and bake at 350°F for 8–10 minutes. Let cool completely.
- Make the Caramel Sauce: In a saucepan, combine sugar and a bit of water, stirring over medium heat until dissolved. Boil without stirring until deep amber. Remove from heat, whisk in butter and cream until smooth, and set aside to cool.
- Prepare the Chocolate Filling: Heat 1 cup of cream in a saucepan until just simmering. Remove from heat and add chocolate, letting sit for a couple of minutes. Stir until smooth.
- Combine Layers: Pour a layer of caramel into the cooled crust, then add the chocolate filling. Optionally, swirl more caramel into the chocolate.
- Chill the Pie: Refrigerate for at least 4 hours until set.
- Finish with Whipped Cream: Before serving, whip remaining cream with sugar and spread over the pie. Drizzle with additional caramel.
- Serve and Enjoy: Slice and enjoy the smiles!
Notes
For a dairy-free version, substitute heavy cream with coconut cream. Use high-quality chocolate for the best flavor.
