Description
A rich and creamy ice cream that combines tart brandied cherries with decadent chocolate chunks, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups cherries, pitted and chopped
- 1/2 cup brandy (or cherry juice for non-alcoholic)
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup sweetened condensed milk
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup semi-sweet or dark chocolate, chopped into chunks
Instructions
- In a mixing bowl, combine the chopped cherries and brandy. Let sit for about an hour.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the heavy cream, sweetened condensed milk, and vanilla extract. Chill this mixture for at least two hours.
- Combine the cherry and cream mixtures gently, then fold in the chocolate chunks.
- Pour into your ice cream maker and churn according to manufacturer’s instructions (about 20-30 minutes).
- Transfer to an airtight container and freeze for at least four hours before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, use half-and-half instead of heavy cream. Remember to check the texture of the ice cream; it should be thick and creamy before stopping the churn.
