Description

A nostalgic dessert featuring a rich chocolate filling topped with coconut and pecans, perfect for family gatherings and celebrations.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pie crust (homemade or store-bought)
  • 4 oz German chocolate, chopped
  • 1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup pecans, toasted
  • 1 cup shredded coconut

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. If making a homemade crust, combine flour, salt, sugar, and cold butter. Mix until crumbly and add ice water until the dough forms. Roll out and chill.
  3. Melt the German chocolate in a double boiler or microwave, then cool slightly.
  4. In a mixing bowl, whisk together sweetened condensed milk, eggs, cocoa powder, melted chocolate, and a pinch of salt until combined.
  5. Gently fold in toasted pecans and shredded coconut.
  6. Pour the filling into the prepared crust.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes until the filling is set but slightly jiggles.
  8. Cool on a wire rack for at least an hour before serving.

Notes

For best texture, chill the pie for a few hours before serving. Serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream for an extra treat.
