Description

A nostalgic and rich dessert featuring a buttery crust topped with a sweet filling, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup chopped nuts or chocolate chips (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking pan.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine melted butter and brown sugar, stirring until smooth. Add eggs and vanilla extract, mixing until well combined. Gradually blend in all-purpose flour.
  3. Pour two-thirds of the dough into the prepared pan and press down evenly to form the crust.
  4. Add nuts or chocolate chips to the remaining dough and spoon it over the crust.
  5. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until the top is golden brown.
  6. Let cool in the pan before slicing into squares. Dust with powdered sugar before serving.

Notes

For best texture, ensure not to overmix the eggs and allow bars to cool completely before slicing.
