Description
A delightful and visually stunning appetizer made with flaky puff pastry, creamy burrata, and a sweet-tart cranberry glaze, perfect for holiday gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 1 package frozen puff pastry
- 8 oz burrata cheese
- 1 cup cranberries (fresh or frozen)
- Fresh thyme or rosemary
- 1 egg (beaten, for egg wash)
- Optional: sautéed mushrooms, chopped garlic, or spinach
Instructions
- Defrost the puff pastry in the refrigerator or at room temperature for 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
- In a small saucepan, combine cranberries, a pinch of sugar, and a splash of water. Cook on medium heat until they pop and form a glaze, about 10–12 minutes. Set aside to cool.
- Roll out the puff pastry sheets to about ¼ inch thick and cut out tree shapes.
- On parchment-lined baking sheets, layer the cut-outs to form branches, leaving space for the filling.
- Make slits in the center of branches and tuck in pieces of burrata cheese.
- Brush the pastry trees with the beaten egg.
- Bake for about 15-20 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- Drizzle cooled cranberry glaze over warm trees and garnish with fresh herbs before serving.
