A delicious and cozy overnight casserole featuring rich brioche, fresh blueberries, and a creamy custard that becomes an instant family favorite.

- 1 loaf brioche or challah bread, cubed
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 6 large eggs
- 2 cups whole milk
- 1/2 cup maple syrup
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
Instructions
- Slice the bread into cubes and let sit out overnight to become slightly stale.
- Rinse and dry the blueberries.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, maple syrup, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In a greased 9×13 baking dish, layer half the bread cubes and sprinkle half the blueberries. Layer the remaining bread and pour the custard mixture over the top. Press down gently.
- Cover and refrigerate for at least 4 hours, preferably overnight.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the casserole for 45-50 minutes until puffed and golden.
- Let cool slightly before serving with additional maple syrup or powdered sugar.
Notes
Allow the casserole to rest overnight for the best texture and flavor. Feel free to substitute blueberries with other seasonal fruits.
