Description
A delightful twist on traditional French toast using soft, sweet Hawaiian rolls, perfect for brunch or a cozy morning meal.
Ingredients
Scale
- 8 Hawaiian rolls
- 4 large eggs
- 1 cup heavy cream or whole milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1/4 tsp nutmeg
- 2 tbsp butter
- Fresh fruit (berries or bananas) for topping
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Maple syrup for serving
Instructions
- Slice the Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally.
- In a bowl, whisk together eggs, heavy cream, vanilla, cinnamon, and nutmeg until smooth.
- Dip each half of the rolls in the custard mixture, letting them absorb the mixture.
- Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt butter.
- Cook the soaked rolls cut side down in the skillet until golden-brown, about 3-4 minutes, then flip to cook the other side.
- Transfer to a serving platter, dust with powdered sugar, and serve warm with fresh berries and maple syrup.
Notes
For best results, allow the rolls to soak adequately but don’t let them become too soggy. Maintain a consistent medium heat while cooking.
