Description

A delightful blend of sweet figs and creamy goat cheese encased in flaky puff pastry, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 sheet of high-quality all-butter puff pastry
  • 12 cups fresh figs, sliced
  • 4 oz creamy goat cheese
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • Fresh thyme or rosemary, for garnish
  • 1 egg, for egg wash
  • 1 tbsp water, for egg wash

Instructions

  1. Thaw the puff pastry in the refrigerator for 6–8 hours or overnight.
  2. Prepare the figs by rinsing them under cold water, patting dry, and slicing them in half or quarters.
  3. Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C).
  4. Roll out the puff pastry on a lightly floured surface until about ¼ inch thick.
  5. Cut the pastry into squares (about 4×4 inches) and place them on a lined baking sheet.
  6. In the center of each pastry square, place a dollop of goat cheese, followed by a few pieces of fig and a drizzle of honey.
  7. Fold the corners of the pastry squares towards the center and seal well.
  8. Whisk the egg with water and brush the tops of the pastries.
  9. Bake for 20–25 minutes or until puffed and golden brown.
  10. Allow to cool for a few minutes, garnish with fresh herbs, and serve.

Notes

For a savory twist, you can use store-bought caramelized onion spread in place of figs.
