Description
Deliciously fluffy rolls filled with cream cheese and cinnamon sugar, perfect for breakfast or brunch.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 1/4 tsp active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1 cup warm milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- 1 tsp salt
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1/2 cup sugar (for filling)
- 2 tbsp cinnamon
- Powdered sugar glaze or cream cheese frosting (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, combine warm milk and sugar. Sprinkle yeast over top and let it sit until foamy (about 5-10 minutes).
- Add melted butter, salt, and flour gradually until a dough forms. Knead for about 5-7 minutes until soft and elastic.
- Place dough in a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place until it doubles in size (about 1 hour).
- Prepare the filling by mixing softened cream cheese, sugar, and cinnamon until smooth and well-combined.
- Once the dough has risen, roll it out into a rectangle about ½ inch thick. Spread the cream cheese filling evenly over the surface.
- Roll the dough tightly from the long side and cut into slices about 1-2 inches thick. Arrange them in a greased baking dish.
- Cover and let the rolls rise again for about 30 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake the rolls for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.
- Drizzle with a glaze made of powdered sugar and milk or spread cream cheese frosting over the top once cool.
Notes
For lactose-free, use almond or oat milk. Whole wheat flour can substitute all-purpose flour, but it may change texture.
