Description
Delightful cinnamon rolls infused with chocolate chips and topped with a playful blue icing, perfect for creating happy memories.
Ingredients
Scale
- 4 cups all-purpose flour (or whole wheat flour)
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup whole milk (or buttermilk)
- 2 large eggs (or flaxseed meal with water)
- 1/2 cup unsalted butter, melted (or coconut oil)
- 2 tsp ground cinnamon
- 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
- Blue food coloring (optional)
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
Instructions
- In a bowl, mix warm milk, sugar, and yeast; let it bloom for about 10 minutes until frothy.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine flour, salt, eggs, and melted butter. Gradually add the yeast mixture, mixing until the dough pulls together.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 8-10 minutes until soft and elastic.
- Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a cloth, and let it rise in a warm spot for about 1 to 1.5 hours until doubled in size.
- Turn the risen dough onto a floured surface and shape it into a 16×12-inch rectangle. Spread softened butter, sprinkle cinnamon, and add chocolate chips.
- Roll tightly from one long edge and slice into equal pieces.
- Place rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- Preheat oven to 350°F (175°C) and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown.
- Prepare blue icing by mixing powdered sugar, milk, vanilla, and food coloring until smooth.
- Drizzle icing over warm rolls once out of the oven.
Notes
If the dough is sticky, add a little more flour but avoid overdoing it to prevent dense rolls. Adjust baking time based on your oven’s characteristics.
