Ingredients

- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 tablespoon baking powder
- ½ teaspoon salt
- ½ cup cold unsalted butter, cubed
- 1 beaten egg
- ½ cup heavy cream
- 1 cup strong brewed coffee
- ½ cup chocolate chips
- Optional: vanilla extract, almond extract, nuts (e.g. pecans or walnuts)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line your baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking powder, and salt.
- Add the cold butter and blend until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.
- In a separate bowl, combine the beaten egg, heavy cream, and brewed coffee.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and fold gently.
- Add the chocolate chips and fold them in.
- Turn the dough onto a floured surface and shape into a circle about 1-inch thick.
- Cut the dough into 8 equal wedges and transfer to a baking sheet.
- Brush the tops with heavy cream.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes or until golden brown.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different chocolate types or add nuts for extra crunch.
