Ingredients
Scale
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
- 1 teaspoon almond extract
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- Optional: Chopped almonds or sea salt for topping
Instructions

- In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
- Stir in the almond extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips and any optional chopped almonds.
- Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
- Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Use room-temperature butter for easier mixing. Start checking cookies for doneness a couple of minutes early to avoid overbaking.
