Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until light and fluffy (about 3-5 minutes).
  3. Stir in the almond extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the all-purpose flour and salt. Gradually mix this dry mixture into the wet ingredients until just combined.
  5. Gently fold in the chocolate chips and any optional chopped almonds.
  6. Using a cookie scoop or tablespoon, drop the dough onto the prepared baking sheet, spacing them about 2 inches apart.
  7. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes or until the edges are lightly golden.
  8. Allow to cool on the baking sheet for about 10 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes
