Description
A delightful recipe for sweet and tart candied cranberries that evoke nostalgia and joy.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 cups fresh cranberries
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup water
- 1 tsp vanilla extract (optional)
- 1 tsp orange zest (optional)
- 1/2 tsp cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Rinse the cranberries thoroughly and pick out any that aren’t firm and bright.
- In a saucepan, combine equal parts of water and granulated sugar. Bring this mixture to a gentle boil, stirring until all the sugar dissolves.
- Once the syrup is boiling, add the cranberries to the mix. Let them cook for about 10-15 minutes, until they soften slightly and begin to pop.
- Remove the pot from heat and allow the cranberries to cool in the syrup for about an hour.
- Drain the cranberries and let them dry on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Once dry, toss the cranberries in a little extra sugar to give them that sparkling finish.
Notes
Ensure that the cranberries are evenly coated in syrup before drying. Let them dry properly for the ideal crunch.
