Ingredients

  • ½ cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1 ½ tsp baking powder
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • ½ tsp salt
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • ½ cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking pan.
  2. In a large bowl, mix together the sugar and cocoa powder, then whisk in flour, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In another bowl, whisk together buttermilk, eggs, melted butter, and peanut butter until smooth.
  4. Combine wet and dry ingredients, folding gently until just mixed.
  5. Stir in chocolate chips and pour the batter into the baking pan.
  6. Bake for about 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick comes out with moist crumbs.
  7. While the cake bakes, make the peanut butter sauce by heating peanut butter, milk, and sugar in a saucepan until smooth.
  8. Let the cake cool for 10 minutes, then drizzle with peanut butter sauce and optional toppings.
  9. Cool completely, cut into squares, and serve.
