Description

A delightful holiday treat combining buttery crackers, caramelized toffee, and chocolate, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 sleeves of buttery crackers (like Ritz or Saltines)
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup light brown sugar
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts, optional)
  • Sea salt (for sprinkling, optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange a single layer of crackers.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until boiling. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
  4. Pour the toffee over the arranged crackers, spreading it evenly.
  5. Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbling and golden brown.
  6. Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, allowing them to melt. Spread the melted chocolate evenly.
  7. Sprinkle chopped nuts and a light dusting of sea salt if desired.
  8. Allow to cool, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.

Notes

Ensure your crackers are fresh for the best crunch and avoid overcooking the toffee to maintain a smooth texture.
