Description
A delightful holiday treat combining buttery crackers, caramelized toffee, and chocolate, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2 sleeves of buttery crackers (like Ritz or Saltines)
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup light brown sugar
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
- 1 cup chopped nuts (like pecans or walnuts, optional)
- Sea salt (for sprinkling, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and arrange a single layer of crackers.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium heat, stirring constantly until boiling. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until thickened.
- Pour the toffee over the arranged crackers, spreading it evenly.
- Bake in the oven for 5-7 minutes until the toffee is bubbling and golden brown.
- Remove from oven and sprinkle chocolate chips over the hot toffee, allowing them to melt. Spread the melted chocolate evenly.
- Sprinkle chopped nuts and a light dusting of sea salt if desired.
- Allow to cool, then break into pieces and store in an airtight container.
Notes
Ensure your crackers are fresh for the best crunch and avoid overcooking the toffee to maintain a smooth texture.
