Description

A playful and delicious appetizer combining savory salami and creamy mozzarella, perfect for gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz salami, sliced
  • 8 oz mozzarella balls
  • 2 tbsp fresh basil, chopped
  • 2 tbsp fresh parsley, chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • Black olives, sliced (for pupils)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Balsamic vinegar (optional)

Instructions

  1. In a skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat and add sliced salami, sautéing until crispy (4–5 minutes).
  2. If using mozzarella blocks, cut them into bite-sized cubes, otherwise leave mozzarella balls whole.
  3. In a bowl, combine the sautéed salami with minced garlic and chopped herbs.
  4. Take a piece of the salami mixture and wrap it around each mozzarella ball.
  5. Arrange on a platter and secure with a toothpick if needed. Add a slice of black olive on top as the “pupil”.
  6. Drizzle with olive oil, sprinkle with salt, and optionally add balsamic vinegar before serving.
  7. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

Best enjoyed fresh, but can last in the fridge for a day or two in an airtight container.
