Description
Delicious, crispy fried apple fritters that combine sweet apples with warm spices, perfect for family gatherings.
Ingredients
Scale
- 2–3 cups apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
- 1 egg
- 1/2 cup whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
- Vegetable or canola oil for frying
- Powdered sugar for dusting
Instructions
- Prepare the Apples: Peel and core the apples, then chop into small cubes. Optionally, toss with lemon juice.
- Make the Batter: Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and spices in one bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg with milk, then combine with the dry ingredients and fold in the apples.
- Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- Fry the Fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
- Drain the Oil: Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while warm.
- Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream.
Notes
Allow the batter to rest for a few minutes before frying for a more tender fritter.
