Description

Delicious, crispy fried apple fritters that combine sweet apples with warm spices, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 23 cups apples (Granny Smith, Honeycrisp, or Golden Delicious)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon nutmeg
  • 1 egg
  • 1/2 cup whole milk (or dairy-free alternative)
  • Vegetable or canola oil for frying
  • Powdered sugar for dusting

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Apples: Peel and core the apples, then chop into small cubes. Optionally, toss with lemon juice.
  2. Make the Batter: Whisk together flour, sugar, baking powder, and spices in one bowl. In another bowl, beat the egg with milk, then combine with the dry ingredients and fold in the apples.
  3. Heat the Oil: Heat oil in a skillet until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
  4. Fry the Fritters: Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry for 2-3 minutes on each side until golden brown.
  5. Drain the Oil: Remove fritters with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels. Roll in a mixture of sugar and cinnamon while warm.
  6. Serve and Enjoy: Serve warm with caramel sauce or vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Allow the batter to rest for a few minutes before frying for a more tender fritter.
