Description

A nostalgic dish featuring a delightful combination of crab meat, vegetables, and rice, cooked to perfection in a buttery, savory sauce.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 cups crab meat (fresh or canned)
  • 4 cups cooked jasmine or basmati rice (preferably day-old)
  • 1 cup mixed vegetables (peas, carrots, bell peppers)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 2 tablespoons butter or oil
  • 2 tablespoons soy sauce
  • 2 eggs, lightly beaten (optional)
  • 2 green onions, chopped (for garnish)

Instructions

  1. Prepare your rice: Start with cold, day-old rice. Spread fresh rice on a baking sheet and let it cool if needed.
  2. Sauté aromatics: Heat a skillet over medium heat and melt the butter. Add minced garlic and chopped onions, sauté until fragrant.
  3. Add vegetables: Toss in colorful chopped vegetables and cook until tender but vibrant.
  4. Introduce the crab: Fold in the crab meat, allowing it to heat through.
  5. Egg time!: Push mixture aside, add more butter, and scramble the beaten eggs, then mix into the rice.
  6. Incorporate the rice: Add cold rice, breaking up clumps. Drizzle with soy sauce and stir-fry until heated through.
  7. Finishing touches: Adjust seasoning, add green onions, and serve garnished with additional green onions or sesame seeds.

Notes

Use cold, day-old rice to prevent mushiness and ensure a better texture. Feel free to customize with additional ingredients as desired.
