Description

A hearty and satisfying pasta skillet dish featuring ground beef, colorful bell peppers, and aromatic garlic, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground beef (lean)
  • 8 oz pasta (spaghetti or penne)
  • 1 red bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, sliced
  • 1 green bell pepper, sliced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 medium onion, diced
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 tsp dried oregano
  • 1 tsp dried basil
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Boil salted water in a large pot and cook pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Reserve some pasta water, drain, and set aside.
  2. In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onions and minced garlic, and sauté until onions are translucent, about 3 minutes.
  3. Move onions to the side and add ground beef, browning it while breaking apart until fully cooked. Season with salt, pepper, oregano, and basil.
  4. Add sliced bell peppers and cook until softened, about 5 minutes.
  5. Mix in the cooked pasta and add reserved pasta water, stirring until combined.
  6. Taste and adjust seasoning as needed.
  7. Serve warm with a drizzle of olive oil and freshly grated Parmesan.

Notes

For added nutrition, consider mixing in spinach at the end, or substitute bell peppers with zucchini or mushrooms.
