- 1 package puff pastry
- 8 oz dark chocolate
- 2 ripe bananas
- 2 tbsp unsalted butter
- Powdered sugar for dusting
- Ground cinnamon (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Roll out the puff pastry to about 1/8 inch thick and cut into rectangles.
- Prick the surface of the pastry rectangles with a fork.
- Blind bake the rectangles for about 15 minutes, or until golden and puffed.
- Slice the ripe bananas and caramelize them in a skillet with melted butter and brown sugar for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Melt the chocolate in a double boiler or microwave until smooth.
- Layer the napoleons by spreading melted chocolate on a pastry rectangle, adding caramelized bananas, and topping with another rectangle. Repeat for two layers.
- Dust the top layer with powdered sugar and cinnamon if desired.
- Slice into portions and serve warm.
Notes
Feel free to customize with nuts or a drizzle of caramel. Make sure the pastry is golden before removing it from the oven.
