- 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 tsp baking soda
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 1 packet active dry yeast
- 1 cup warm water
- 1 tsp salt
- 1 cup chocolate (milk, dark, or white), melted
- Festive sprinkles
- Crushed candy canes
Instructions
- Combine warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
- Add brown sugar and salt, then gradually mix in flour, kneading until smooth.
- Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
- Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Shape dough into pretzels and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
- Boil 6 cups of water with baking soda, drop pretzels in for 30-60 seconds, then remove.
- Bake pretzels for 15-20 minutes until golden. Drizzle with melted chocolate and add sprinkles.
Notes
For a nuttier flavor, substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
