Description

Delightful cookies that combine sweet and salty flavors, perfect for holiday gatherings and family traditions.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1 cup warm water
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1 cup chocolate (milk, dark, or white), melted
  • Festive sprinkles
  • Crushed candy canes

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water and yeast in a mixing bowl. Let sit for 5 minutes until frothy.
  2. Add brown sugar and salt, then gradually mix in flour, kneading until smooth.
  3. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl, covered, for about 1 hour or until doubled in size.
  4. Preheat oven to 375°F (190°C). Shape dough into pretzels and place on parchment-lined baking sheet.
  5. Boil 6 cups of water with baking soda, drop pretzels in for 30-60 seconds, then remove.
  6. Bake pretzels for 15-20 minutes until golden. Drizzle with melted chocolate and add sprinkles.

Notes

For a nuttier flavor, substitute all-purpose flour with whole wheat flour. Store leftovers in an airtight container for up to 4 days.
