Description

Delicious Tuna Empanadas with a buttery crust and savory filling of tuna, onions, and spices, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 1 cup drained tuna
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ cup cold butter
  • 1 finely chopped onion
  • 2 minced garlic cloves
  • ½ cup chopped bell pepper
  • Fresh lemon or lime juice
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Egg wash (for brushing)
  • Oil (for frying)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dough: Mix flour with cold butter and gradually add ice water until a dough forms. Chill for 30 minutes.
  2. Make the Filling: Sauté onion and garlic until translucent. Add tuna, bell pepper, lime juice, salt, and pepper; cook until combined. Allow to cool.
  3. Assemble the Empanadas: Roll out the dough, cut circles, fill, fold over, and crimp edges to seal.
  4. Bake or Fry: Preheat oven to 375°F and bake for 20-25 minutes until golden, or fry until crispy.
  5. Enjoy: Let cool slightly and serve with dipping sauces.
