- 1/2 cup teriyaki sauce
- 4 slices fresh pineapple
- 4 brioche or whole wheat buns
- 1 cup shiitake or portobello mushrooms, sliced
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 2 green onions, chopped
- 1 cup lettuce or cucumber for topping
- Optional toppings: cheese slices, avocado, spicy mayo
Instructions
- In a large mixing bowl, combine ground beef with teriyaki sauce, minced garlic, and chopped green onions. Shape into patties with a small indentation in the center.
- Preheat your grill to medium-high heat and grill the pineapple slices for 3-4 minutes on each side until caramelized. Set aside.
- Grill the burger patties for 4-5 minutes on each side, brushing with additional teriyaki sauce. Ensure the internal temperature reaches 160°F.
- Toast the buns on the grill until golden brown.
- Assemble the burger: start with the bun, add lettuce, the patty, grilled pineapple, mushrooms, and any additional toppings. Top with the other half of the bun.
- Serve with sweet potato fries or coleslaw and enjoy.

Handle the burger patties gently to keep them juicy and avoid overcooking them. Grilling the pineapple adds a delightful sweetness.
