Description

A delightful Cordon Bleu Sandwich, featuring crispy bread, tender chicken, smoky ham, and creamy Swiss cheese, perfect for family gatherings and cozy meals.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 boneless chicken breasts
  • 4 slices of smoky ham
  • 4 slices of Swiss cheese
  • 1 cup panko breadcrumbs
  • 1 egg
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Garlic powder (optional)
  • Smoked paprika (optional)
  • Olive oil or melted butter for cooking

Instructions

  1. Flatten chicken breasts to ensure even cooking, season with salt, pepper, and spices.
  2. Layer one chicken piece with a slice of ham and Swiss cheese, then top it with the other chicken piece to form a sandwich.
  3. Whisk an egg in a shallow dish, and place breadcrumbs mixed with salt in another dish.
  4. Dredge the sandwich in the egg wash, then coat with breadcrumbs.
  5. Heat oil or butter in a skillet over medium heat, and cook the sandwich for 4–5 minutes on each side until golden brown and cooked through.
  6. Transfer to a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil.
  7. Let rest for a minute before slicing and serving, optionally with garlic mushrooms.

Notes

For a meatless option, replace chicken with eggplant or mushroom steaks. Whole-grain bread can also be used for a healthier twist.
