Description

A delightful combination of flaky puff pastry wrapped around crisp asparagus, enhanced with cheese and seasonings.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 bunch fresh asparagus
  • 1 sheet puff pastry
  • 1 cup grated cheese (Parmesan, Gruyère or cheddar)
  • 1 beaten egg (for egg wash)
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and black pepper to taste
  • Fresh herbs (optional)
  • Butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. Rinse the asparagus and trim off the tough ends. Pat dry with a paper towel.
  3. On a floured surface, roll out your puff pastry sheet to about 1/8 inch thick.
  4. Sprinkle cheese evenly across the pastry and lay asparagus spears on top.
  5. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, and herbs to taste.
  6. Fold the pastry over the asparagus and seal the edges with a fork.
  7. Brush the top with the beaten egg.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes until golden brown and puffed.
  9. Let it cool for a few minutes before slicing to serve.

Notes

Keep the puff pastry cold before baking for the best flakiness. Rotate the baking sheet halfway through the cooking time for even browning.
